        My Chinese teaching experience started with the Certificate Program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) at Teachers College, Columbia University.

           The Practicum course afforded us the opportunity to teach one Chinese lesson each semester in the Department of the East Asian Languages and Cultures. My student teaching provided me with invaluable resources to try out the principles and techniques I had learned in the TCSOL program. Most significantly, I incorporated the task-based language teaching (TBLT) approach into an otherwise structure-based classroom, and my communication-oriented method turned out to be very well received.
